How Marvellous?  

The most potent force in the universe is …     (Gen 1:25-28; Col 1:6, 10)  

1) Christ’s Supremacy and the Creation of ‘all things’ (v15-17)  WHO is Jesus … (v15) He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of all creation.  

WHY Jesus is WHO he is … (v16) FOR by [in] him all things were created, in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities—all things were created through him and for him.  

In SUM Jesus is … (v17) [And he] is before all things, and in him all things hold together.  

2) Christ’s Supremacy and the Reconciliation of ‘all things’ (v18-20)  

in SUM Jesus is … (v18a) [And he] is the head of the body, the church.  

WHO is Jesus … (v18b) He is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead, that in everything he might be preeminent.  

WHY Jesus is WHO he is … (v19-20)  FOR in him all the fullness of God was pleased to dwell and through him to reconcile to[in] himself all things, whether on earth or in heaven, making peace by the blood of his cross.
